UPDATE – Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up at Friday’s close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,460.86 points on Friday, up 0.29% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,461.22 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index climbed 4.18 points from the previous close of 1,456.68 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,455.39 points, while its daily high was 1,464.49 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.03 trillion Turkish liras (over $120.5 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 15.17 billion Turkish liras ($1.81 billion).

On the fifth and final transaction day of the week, 36 stocks on the index rose, 58 fell, and six remained the same compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA and real estate investment trust Emlak Konut.

Conglomerate Bera Holding was the best performer with its shares up 9.93%, while stocks of fertilizer supplier Bagfas saw the sharpest drop of 4.83%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,888.60 by market close, up from $1,881.10, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $72.69 per barrel as of 6:44 p.m. local time (1544GMT).
