Cyprus tourism stays strong amid Middle East concerns, says Spokesman of ACTA

Tourist arrivals in Cyprus remain robust despite concerns over developments in the Middle East, according to Antonis Orthodoxou, spokesperson of the Association of Cyprus Travel and Tourist Agents (ACTA). Orthodoxou made this statement while announcing the 25th edition of the "TRAVEL EXPO CYPRUS" tourism exhibition, scheduled to take place from April 19 to 21 at the Cyprus State Fair in Nicosia. Jointly organized by ACTA and Display Art, the exhibition will kick off on Friday, April 19, at 17:00, with an inauguration ceremony attended by Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis and Greek Ambassador to Cyprus Ioannis Papameletiou. Opening hours for the public will be from 16:00 to 22:00 on April 19 and 20, and from 15:00 to 21:00 on April 21. Speaking during a press conference for the event, Orthodoxou emphasized the significance of this year's exhibition, marking the 70th anniversary of the association. He highlighted its reputation as one of Cyprus's most successful exhibitions, drawing over 10,000 visito rs annually and standing as the sole tourism showcase in the country. Petros Saganas, Head of the Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO), commended the association's longstanding contribution to the tourism sector, underscoring Cyprus' importance as a key market for Greek tourism and a primary destination for Cypriots traveling abroad. Expressing optimism for the upcoming tourism season, Saganas acknowledged the challenges posed by geopolitical instability and potential economic impacts on consumer spending. Nonetheless, he expressed hope for continued strong tourist arrivals to both Greece and Cyprus, following a record-breaking year in the previous season. Director of Tourism at the Deputy Ministry of Tourism Annita Demetriadou, said that maintaining 2023's levels or achieving a slight increase would be considered positive outcomes. She affirmed the Deputy Ministry's commitment to working toward boosting the number of tourists in the upcoming period. Source: Cyprus News Agency
