US stocks open Monday higher

ISTANBUL: US stocks opened higher on Monday. The Dow Jones was up 147 points, or 0.38%, to 38,823 at 9.36 a.m. EDT (1336GMT). The S and P 500 rose 26 points, or 0.51%, to 5,153. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, rose 95 points, or 0.6%, to reach 16,251. The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 1.2% to 13.65. The 10-year US Treasury yield added 0.04% to 4.501%. The dollar index fell 0.08% to 104.95, while the euro climbed 0.25% to $1.0784 against the greenback. Precious metals were on the rise, with gold jumping 3.1% to $2,331 per ounce and silver soaring 3.2% to $27.40. Oil prices were in the green, with global benchmark Brent crude rising 0.78% to $83.61 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude gaining 0.88% to $78.80. Source: Anadolu Agency
