Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, will travel to Brussels on Monday to participate in the informal General Affairs Council of the European Union, which will take place between 29-30 April, starting with a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the 2004 enlargement on Monday evening. The informal Council will address the rule of law in the context of the enlargement process and the future of Europe. More specifically, it will start with a working breakfast, where Member States and countries with a European perspective will discuss challenges, needs and best practices around rule of law reforms in the context of the enlargement process. Member State ministers will then discuss ways to strengthen the Union's toolkit for implementing the rule of law, on the basis of a study by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). The informal Council will conclude with a debate on the Future of Europe and the internal reforms of the Union. Source: Cypru s News Agency
