Turkish stocks on high note at weekly open

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,467.18 points on Tuesday, rising 0.61% or 8.95 points from the previous close.

At the last week's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.67% to 1,458.23 points, with a daily trading volume of 12.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

There was no transaction in Turkey's financial markets on Monday as the country marked its Victory Day on Aug. 30.

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 8.3420 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.3660 on Friday.

One euro traded for 9.8700 Turkish liras versus 9.8710 at the previous close. The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 11.5290, down from 11.5580.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $72.06 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
