Um rawaba: A Sudanese rights group reported on Tuesday that a drone attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals and left dozens injured. The attack targeted a courthouse in the city of Um Rawaba, located in North Kordofan state.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Emergency Lawyers group released a statement indicating that the preliminary death toll from the attack stands at 10, with many more suffering injuries. This incident has heightened existing fears about the safety of civilians and court workers throughout Sudan, prompting calls for immediate action. The group has urged an immediate cessation of attacks on civilians and judicial facilities, alongside a demand for an independent and transparent investigation into this recent strike.

The RSF has yet to issue a comment addressing the statement made by the rights group. This attack comes in the wake of a UN report from August 24, which noted that 1,100 civilians had been killed in drone attacks across Sudan from January to June this year.

The Kordofan region, comprising North, West, and South Kordofan, has been a hotspot for clashes between the Sudanese army and the RSF since October of last year. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and displaced approximately 13 million people, based on estimates from the UN and other international bodies.
