Kuwait city: An 11-year-old girl lost her life and several family members sustained injuries after parts of intercepted aerial targets fell on a residential property in Kuwait's Capital Governorate, as reported by the Health Ministry. The incident occurred early Wednesday, leading to immediate medical emergencies.
According to Anadolu Agency, a statement from Health Ministry spokesperson Abdullah Al-Sanad confirmed that emergency services at Amiri Hospital were alerted to the injured girl after debris landed in the residential area. Al-Sanad detailed that medical teams promptly responded and performed resuscitation in the ambulance en route to the hospital. Despite continued efforts at the hospital, the girl succumbed to her injuries.
In addition to the tragic loss, four other family members, including the girl's mother, suffered injuries and are presently undergoing medical evaluation. They remain under observation to assess and monitor their condition, as per Al-Sanad.
The Defense Ministry's spokesperson, Col. Saud Al-Atwan, highlighted via US social media platform X that the country's armed forces detected and neutralized several hostile aerial targets within Kuwait's airspace on Wednesday. Although these targets were successfully intercepted and destroyed, resulting debris caused injuries and property damage upon falling on a residential home.
Col. Al-Atwan assured that the armed forces are committed to fulfilling their responsibilities to secure Kuwait's territory and safeguard its citizens and residents, thereby maintaining the country's sovereignty, security, and stability. The Defense Ministry has not yet disclosed the origin of the attacks.
These incidents occur amid Iran's ongoing targeting of what it deems 'US interests' across Kuwait and seven other Arab countries, in retaliation to offensive operations by Israel and the US. The actions have led to casualties and property damage, drawing condemnation from the Gulf Cooperation Council. Concurrently, Tehran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel in response to Israeli and US strikes that have resulted in significant casualties, including the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
