Seattle: Around 3,200 highly-skilled Boeing personnel decided to go on strike, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Union announced on Monday. The strike marks a significant moment of industrial action as workers demand better terms.

According to Anadolu Agency, the union stated on X: "3,200 highly-skilled IAM Union members at Boeing went on strike at midnight because enough is enough." This action follows a vote by union members, conducted on Sunday, rejecting a modified four-year labor deal proposed by Boeing.

The workers are advocating for a contract that appropriately acknowledges their skill, dedication, and their essential contribution to the nation's defense efforts. A business representative of the union, Tom Boelling, emphasized the unity among the workers by stating, "We stand shoulder to shoulder with these working families as they fight for fairness and respect on the job."

In an effort to avert the strike, Boeing had offered a revised deal last week, which included minor changes in compensation. The proposal featured an increase in the average annual wage, raising it to $102,600 from the previous $75,000. However, the modifications were not sufficient to meet the expectations of the workforce, leading to the current industrial action.
