Muscat: The third round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the US has officially commenced in Oman, as reported by Iranian state television. The discussions, facilitated by mediators, aim to address longstanding conflicts, particularly concerning Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of US sanctions on Tehran.

According to Anadolu Agency, envoys from both sides are engaging through mediators to focus on de-escalating tensions. These talks are crucial, given the recent threat from US President Donald Trump to bomb Iran and impose more tariffs should Tehran fail to reach an agreement over its nuclear program. This threat has elicited strong reactions from Tehran.

The US and Israel have accused Iran of developing a nuclear weapon, an allegation that Tehran has consistently denied. Despite refusing to engage in direct talks with the US, Iran agreed to these indirect discussions through Oman's mediation, following a recent exchange of letters between the two nations.
