Moscow: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Trkiye's western province of Kutahya at 2:54 am local time Thursday (2354GMT), authorities said. The tremor was recorded at a depth of 12.1 kilometers (7.52 miles) by Trkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), with its epicenter located in the district of Simav.
According to Anadolu Agency, Kutahya Governor Musa Isin shared on the US social media company X's platform that no "negative" situation has been reported so far. While the local authorities continue to assess the impact, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties in the area.
