4 Children Among 9 Killed in US-Israeli Strike in Tehran

Tehran: At least nine people, including four children, were killed in a US-Israeli strike in Tehran on Monday, Iranian media reported. Iran's state television indicated that the attack targeted two residential buildings in the Shahriar district of the capital.

According to Anadolu Agency, the strike resulted in the collapse of both buildings, leaving nine dead and wounding four others. Earlier reports from Iranian media highlighted that overnight US-Israeli strikes on Tehran and the city of Qom accounted for at least 34 casualties.

Iran has not released an official overall casualty count from the ongoing conflict. However, the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) has reported a death toll of 3,540. Additionally, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies disclosed that at least 1,900 civilians have been killed, with 20,000 others injured.

The region has witnessed heightened tensions since the US and Israel initiated a joint offensive on Iran on February 28. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as regions in Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military forces. The Iranian government has also imposed restrictions on the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for oil and gas transportation.
