Tibet: A 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Tibet, locally known as Xizang, in southern China on Thursday, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The seismic event occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) at 1159GMT.

According to Anadolu Agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center reported the earthquake with a magnitude of 5, as stated by the state-run news agency Xinhua. Currently, there are no immediate reports of casualties or damage resulting from the quake.

The region has experienced significant seismic activity in the past. Earlier this year, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Xigaze on January 7, resulting in the deaths of 126 people. The disaster displaced more than 60,000 residents and left over 22,000 individuals injured.
