La tirana: A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck northeast Chile on Sunday, marking the second seismic event in the region within a few hours, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

According to Anadolu Agency, the earthquake occurred 76 kilometers east-northeast of the town of La Tirana at 1623GMT with a depth of 119 km. No immediate tsunami alert was issued following the earthquake, and there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Earlier in the day, the region experienced a 4.2-magnitude earthquake at 0725GMT, highlighting the seismic activity in the area.
