Istanbul: Five Pakistani soldiers and 25 militants were killed during clashes in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the Afghanistan border, Pakistan’s armed forces said in a statement on Sunday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the statement detailed that on Friday and Saturday, two large groups of militants in the North Waziristan district and Kurram district near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border were identified and engaged by security forces. It was reported that 15 militants, including four suicide bombers, were killed in the North Waziristan district, while 10 others were killed in the Kurram district as they attempted to infiltrate the border.
The statement further confirmed that during the firefights, five Pakistani soldiers also lost their lives. Additionally, a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the militants, highlighting the scale of the threat neutralized by the security forces.
