Washington: A new survey shows that 58% of Americans believe President Donald Trump's aggressive tariff policy will harm the nation's economy.

According to Anadolu Agency, the survey, conducted by Marquette Law School, assessed the impact of Trump's decisions during his second term, which began on Jan. 20 and was marked by a series of sweeping and controversial decisions. The results indicate that while 58% of Americans think the tariffs announced by Trump will harm the economy, only 28% believe they will be beneficial.

A significant majority, 58%, also expressed concerns that these policies will drive up inflation. The survey further revealed that 43% of Americans hold a negative opinion of Trump, and 64% believe that the closure of institutions like the Education Department and USAID is beyond the president's authority, following decisions by Trump and his aides.

Additionally, 70% of respondents stated that judges who rule against Trump's decisions should not face removal. Trump's recent announcement of reciprocal tariffs, with a basic rate set at 10%, has added to the ongoing debates.

Since the start of his second term, Trump's executive orders have faced frequent legal challenges, with federal judges often suspending or overturning these policies. Many of these issues are anticipated to reach the US Supreme Court, which currently has a majority of conservative justices appointed by Republican presidents, including Trump. However, the justices do not always vote in line with their perceived ideological leanings.
