Antalya: The World Ethnosport Union is set to host its 8th Ethnosport Forum in the southwestern city of Antalya, Turkey, from April 3 to 5. The event aims to shape the future of traditional sports while preserving cultural heritage. The forum will address strategic issues related to the sustainability of ethnosports and seek to enhance global cooperation through principles of tradition, respect, solidarity, and peace.
According to Anadolu Agency, the World Ethnosport Union has been working since its inception to protect traditional sports and games, increase intercultural interaction, and raise awareness about the field. During the forum, short, medium, and long-term strategies will be discussed.
The event will highlight the "Revival of Traditional Sports," with academics, federation representatives, and researchers evaluating topics such as international cooperation opportunities, financial sustainability, and media strategies. Proposals to make traditional sports and games awards more accessible to a wider audience will also be on the agenda.
A key topic of discussion will be the "Ethnosports 2027" organization. Experts will evaluate the vision, goals, organizational structure, international participation strategies, sponsorship, financial sustainability models, and media planning for this internationally planned multi-sport event.
The forum is expected to attract representatives from 50 institutional members across 29 countries affiliated with the World Ethnosport Union, along with government officials, federation representatives, academics, and researchers. World Ethnosport Union President Necmeddin Bilal Erdogan will deliver an opening speech, followed by a ministerial panel with senior government officials.
Spanning two days of sessions, panels, and strategic discussions, the forum is planned to illuminate the future of traditional sports and serve as a strong launching point for the Ethnosports 2027 process.
