ISTANBUL: The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims rose 4,000 last week to 238,000, according to Labor Department data released Wednesday. The figure was slightly higher than estimates of 234,000. The previous week's reading was revised from 233,000 to 234,000. The four-week moving average was 238,500, an increase of 2,250 from the previous week's revised average. The US economy added 272,000 jobs in May, while the unemployment rate rose to 4% from 3.9% in April. Source: Anadolu Agency
