Berlin: Germany's import prices saw a decline of 1.3% in September on a yearly basis, following a modest increase of 0.2% in August, as reported by the federal statistical office, Destatis, on Thursday. This decrease is primarily attributed to a significant drop in energy prices. According to Anadolu Agency, the energy sector experienced a reduction of 16.1% in prices compared to the previous year. Destatis further highlighted that if energy prices are excluded, the import prices for September 2024 were 0.6% higher than those recorded in September 2023. In contrast to the overall decline, the import prices of consumer goods increased by 1.9% in September on an annual basis. Meanwhile, the export prices in Germany experienced a slight rise of 0.4% in September, following a 0.8% increase observed in August.
