Benue: At least 15 people have been killed in an attack by armed bandits in Nigeria's Benue state, local media reported Thursday. Several others were wounded during the invasion of the town of Anyiin in the Logo Local Government Area. According to Anadolu Agency, Nigeria has been grappling with attacks from armed gangs, as well as the Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist groups, in various regions. Despite the enforcement of the death penalty for kidnapping, abductions for ransom remain common. Armed groups frequently target villages, schools, and travelers in the northern part of Nigeria to demand ransoms. The continued violence has led to significant insecurity and disruption in affected areas.
