Gaza Strip: The Israeli army announced on Friday the death of Capt. Yarden Zakay, a platoon leader in the Givati Brigade, who succumbed to injuries sustained during battles in southern Gaza last September. Capt. Zakay, aged 21, was critically injured during a battle on September 17, 2023. According to Anadolu Agency, military figures indicate that at least 778 soldiers have been killed since the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, 2023. Ground operations initiated on October 27, 2023, have resulted in over 367 fatalities among Israeli soldiers. Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued its offensive on Gaza following an attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas last year. Local health authorities report more than 43,200 deaths, mostly women and children, alongside over 101,600 injuries as a result of the ongoing conflict.
