Budapest: European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen engaged in discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, focusing on EU-Turkey relations and the ongoing conflict involving Israel's attacks on Palestine. The meeting took place on the margins of the fifth European Political Community Summit in Budapest, Hungary. According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye's Communications Directorate announced the topics of discussion on social media platform X, emphasizing the importance of the dialogue between the EU and Turkey. President Von der Leyen expressed optimism about the potential for a strengthened partnership, stating that a closer EU-Turkey relationship could foster peace, prosperity, and security not only in Europe and Turkey but also across the broader region. The summit in Budapest brought together European leaders to deliberate on pressing global issues, with a particular focus on the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East. Hosted by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the meeting also addressed challenges such as irregular migration and economic security within Europe.
