France Deploys Extensive Security for Nations League Clash Against Israel.

Paris: France is set to deploy 4,000 police personnel for the upcoming UEFA Nations League match against Israel, taking place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. This robust security measure, reported by French daily Le Monde, will include approximately 2,600 gendarmes and police officers stationed around the stadium. According to Anadolu Agency, plainclothes officers will be present in the stands to enhance security. The Stade de France, the largest stadium in France with a capacity of approximately 81,000, will also see the involvement of the French elite riot police, CRS, working across Paris. Additionally, the Israeli team's hotel will be under police surveillance, and the closest rows to the pitch will remain unoccupied to prevent pitch invasions. This significant police presence highlights France's commitment to ensuring safety, as seen during the 2022 UEFA Champions League final, where 6,800 police and military personnel were deployed. Despite calls to relocate the match due to threats of violence and antisemitism, France, led by Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, remains firm in holding the match as scheduled. Retailleau, in a statement on X, emphasized France's resilience against such pressures, underscoring the importance of not yielding to threats. Paris police chief Laurent Nunez, at Retailleau's request, has implemented the necessary measures for the match, which will start at 1945GMT. The upcoming match holds significant stakes for France, as a victory against Israel would secure their place in the Nations League quarterfinals. Currently, France, coached by Didier Deschamps, is in second place in Group A2 with nine points, trailing group leader Italy, who has 10 points. Meanwhile, Israel, coached by Luciano Spalletti, sits at the bottom of the group with no points from four games. Third-place Belgium, with four points, will face Italy in Brussels on the same evening.
