Death Toll from Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon Nears 3,200.

Beirut: Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon killed at least 53 people and injured 99 others over the weekend, the Lebanese Health Ministry said Sunday. The fatalities on Saturday raised the total number of people killed in Israeli attacks in the country since October 2023 to 3,189, with 14,078 injured, the ministry said in a statement. According to Anadolu Agency, Israel has escalated its air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are targets of the Hezbollah group. This marks an escalation from the year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and the Lebanese group, which intensified following Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip starting on October 7, 2023. Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on October 1 this year, further intensifying the ongoing hostilities in the region. The recent surge in violence has resulted in a significant increase in casualties, putting immense pressure on local health services and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.
