KARACHI: Trkiye's state-run aid agency, TIKA, has inaugurated a modern computer laboratory at the University of Karachi, enhancing educational resources at one of Pakistan's prominent higher education institutions. The facility, located at the Faculty of Education, is expected to serve approximately 1,500 students.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) officially handed over the newly constructed computer lab to university officials during a ceremony attended by TIKA's East and South Asia, Pacific, and Latin America Department head, Dursun Ali Yasacan, and Trkiye's Consul General in Karachi, Cemal Sangu. The initiative underscores TIKA's commitment to bolstering educational infrastructure in Pakistan, as highlighted by Yasacan during the ceremony.
The University of Karachi, established in 1951, is recognized for its significant contribution to higher education in Pakistan. Faculty members and students extended their gratitude to TIKA and the Turkish government for the establishment of the modern laboratory, which aims to enhance the learning experience for the university's students.
This project is part of TIKA's broader efforts in Pakistan, where it has been operating since 2010. The agency has completed over 150 projects in the education sector over the past 15 years and has successfully implemented more than 70 projects across various sectors in the last three years. Recent initiatives include a state-of-the-art training and control greenhouse at Sindh Agriculture University Tandojam and a modern conference hall at the National Press Club in Islamabad.
TIKA's ongoing projects reflect its strategic focus on education, underscoring the agency's dedication to fostering educational development in Pakistan through modern infrastructure and facilities.
