Ankara: Trkiye's retail sales saw a significant increase of 16.4% year-on-year in November 2024, according to the statistical authority TurkStat. According to Anadolu Agency, the trade sales volume also witnessed a rise of 8.7% over the year, with wholesale trade sales climbing by 5.3%. The breakdown of sales categories revealed that food, drink, and tobacco sales increased by 11.1%. Non-food sales experienced a larger jump of 21.9%, while automotive fuel sales saw a marginal rise of 0.1%. In the non-food category, sales of computers, books, and telecommunications equipment surged by 40.9%. Electronic goods and furniture sales increased by 9.8%, while textiles, clothing, and footwear sales grew by 6.7%. Medical goods and cosmetic sales reported an increase of 15.4%. Additionally, sales conducted via mail orders and the internet went up by 14.1% compared to the previous year. On a monthly basis, retail sales, trade sales, and wholesale sales showed respective increases of 1.9%, 0.9%, and 0.6%.
