Gaza City: The Palestinian Hamas group has strongly denounced statements made by US President Donald Trump regarding the purchase and ownership of Gaza, labeling them as "absurd" and reflecting "profound ignorance" concerning the Palestinian issue and the broader regional context. These remarks have sparked a heated response from Hamas, with the group emphasizing the non-negotiable status of Gaza as an integral part of Palestinian territory.

According to Anadolu Agency, Izzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas' political bureau, issued a statement condemning Trump's comments. Al-Rishq articulated that the notion of treating Gaza as a piece of real estate is fundamentally flawed and demonstrates a deep misunderstanding of the complexities surrounding Palestine. He also highlighted the determination of the Palestinian people to resist any attempts at displacement or forced relocation.

President Trump, speaking aboard Air Force One on his way to New Orleans, Louisiana, reiterated his commitment to acquiring Gaza and suggested that other countries could assist in developing the region. He controversially described the area as a demolition site, suggesting it was uninhabitable in its current state.

Earlier, on February 4, Trump proposed a dramatic redevelopment plan, envisioning Gaza as "the Riviera of the Middle East."
