Ukraine’s Air Force Claims Successful Interception of 138 Russian Drones Overnight

Ankara: Ukraine's Air Force said on Sunday it shot down 138 Russian drones overnight, while Russia also reported destroying 20 Ukrainian drones over its own territory.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russian forces launched a total of 267 strike drones, which included Shahed drones, along with three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from Crimea. These attacks targeted multiple regions throughout Ukraine.

Ukrainian air defenses, comprising aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups, managed to intercept the assault, downing 138 drones over several regions, including Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Ukraine also reported that 119 decoy drones failed to reach their intended targets, with some losing location tracking. However, damage was reported in areas such as Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia.

Meanwhile, Russia's Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses successfully shot down 20 Ukrainian drones over the Oryol, Belgorod, Kursk, Lipetsk, Tula, and Voronezh regions.
