Ankara: Trkiye's Defense Industry Agency (SSB) and the Turkish defense companies BMC and FNSS have signed a 'Next-Generation Vehicle Project' contract during a ceremony in Ankara. SSB President Haluk Gorgun stated at the event that Trkiye's defense industry secured export contracts exceeding $20 billion in the past two years, with $2 billion achieved in just the first two months of the current year.

According to Anadolu Agency, Gorgun emphasized the engineering excellence, production capabilities, and innovative strategies of these defense firms, which have significantly contributed to Trkiye's development success with advanced armed vehicles. He further claimed that Trkiye leads globally in nationalizing its defense industry. Last year, defense exports from Trkiye increased by 29%, reaching $7.1 billion, with products delivered to 180 countries worldwide, including platforms, weapons, ammunition, and systems.

Gorgun outlined plans for integrating engine projects and power transmissions across land, naval, and air vehicles as part of the effort to produce fully domestically made armed vehicles. Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu of the Turkish Land Forces, who attended the signing ceremony, underlined Trkiye's position as a global player in the defense industry, supported by its elite forces and capabilities in arms development.

Fuat Tosyali, chairman of BMC's board of directors, announced that the agreement includes supplying 29 units of the BMC 'Altug' eight-by-eight armored combat vehicles to the Turkish Land Forces, along with integrated logistics support services. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2027. Oguz Carmikli, deputy chairman of the board at Nurol Holding, added that the FNSS 'Pars Alpha' eight-by-eight, renowned for its unique design features, will also be produced for the Turkish army, having gained international recognition in a short time.
