Norway Commits to Fuel Supplies for US Navy Despite Boycott by Local Company

Oslo: Norway’s defense minister has assured that American forces will continue to receive necessary supplies and support from Norway, following a boycott announcement by a Norwegian oil and shipping company. Tore Sandvik emphasized that the decision made by Haltbakk Bunkers does not reflect the policies of the Norwegian government, reaffirming the ongoing defense cooperation between Norway and the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, Haltbakk Bunkers declared its intention to cease refueling US ships. This decision came in the wake of a dispute involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House. The company’s statement urged Norwegians and Europeans to replicate their stance, proclaiming, “No fuel for the Americans!”

The boycott announcement followed a contentious exchange at the Oval Office between Zelenskyy, Trump, and US Vice President JD Vance. During the meeting, Trump criticized Zelenskyy’s demeanor, while the Ukrainian leader expressed expectations for support amid his country’s ongoing conflict with Russia. The tense verbal confrontation lasted approximately ten minutes, after which Zelenskyy left the White House. Consequently, a planned signing ceremony and press conference were called off.
