Oulu: A far-right activist in Finland, identified as Juhani Sebastian Lamsa, has been found guilty of two counts of attempted murder after he stabbed two children at the Valkea Shopping Centre in Oulu last summer.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Oulu District Court delivered the verdict against the 34-year-old neo-Nazi, who has a known history of violent offenses.

Lamsa attacked two foreign national children, seriously injuring a 12-year-old and attempting to stab a 14-year-old. Despite the prosecution pushing for a 10-year prison sentence due to the racially motivated nature of the attack, Lamsa will not be imprisoned. This decision follows a court-ordered psychological assessment which concluded that he was not criminally accountable at the time of the incident.

During the trial, Lamsa claimed he believed he was being monitored and that an intelligence agency could read his thoughts. His defense argued that the assault was not premeditated. As a result, he will be subjected to treatment as prescribed by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.

Furthermore, the court has mandated Lamsa to compensate the victims financially. He is ordered to pay approximately £17,000 ($17,900) to the 12-year-old victim, around £6,500 to the 14-year-old, and £1,000 to a security guard who was present at the shopping center during the attack.

Lamsa's criminal record includes a conviction for pepper-spraying Left Alliance politician Dan Koivulaakso during a 2012 Oulu Pride event and a stabbing incident at a book launch in Jyvaskyla. The recent attack on the children is part of a series of racially motivated stabbings in Oulu, including a December incident involving a 15-year-old who was also found not criminally responsible for a similar assault.
