Nuuk: Greenland's premier-elect Jens-Frederik Nielsen has made a strong appeal to European countries, asserting that Greenland will never be for sale. Nielsen urged international allies to support Greenland's sovereignty and emphasized the autonomy of the Greenlandic people in governing their territory.

According to Anadolu Agency, Nielsen's comments came amidst heightened tensions following remarks by US President Donald Trump questioning Denmark's sovereignty over Greenland. The premier-elect made his stance clear, stating: "Stand with us and make clear that Greenland is not and will never be for sale. Greenland is run by the Greenlandic people and that will never change."

The controversy has sparked significant public outcry, with around 1,000 Greenlanders marching in the capital city of Nuuk on Saturday to protest Trump's comments. The demonstration highlighted the Greenlandic people's commitment to preserving their sovereignty.

In a joint statement, leaders from the Demokraatit, Naleraq, Inuit Ataqatigiit, Siumut, and Atassut parties condemned Trump's behavior as "unacceptable." Trump's remarks on Thursday included questioning Denmark's historical claim to Greenland, suggesting that its geographical distance undermines Denmark's authority over the island.
