Russia Plans Space Cooperation Talks with Elon Musk, Says Envoy

Moscow: A Russian envoy announced that Russia will engage in discussions with tech billionaire Elon Musk to explore potential cooperation in the space sector, as efforts continue to normalize relations between Moscow and Washington.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kirill Dmitriev, Moscow's special envoy for foreign investment and economic cooperation, shared this development while speaking to journalists at the 34th congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP). Dmitriev revealed that he had discussions with Dmitry Bakanov, head of Russia's space agency Roscosmos, about collaborating with Musk.

Dmitriev emphasized that the collaboration with Musk is not solely focused on Mars exploration but also involves leveraging the expertise of Roscosmos and Rosatom to enhance the safety and efficiency of space missions. He indicated that these discussions with Musk are anticipated to take place soon.

The envoy expressed his admiration for Musk, describing him as a unique leader dedicated to advancing humanity's progress. This potential cooperation comes in the wake of a meeting between Russian and US officials in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in February, marking their first high-level talks since the Ukraine conflict started in 2022, aimed at fostering peace and improving bilateral ties.
