Paris: France has issued a strong condemnation of the recent Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the severe impact on civilians. "France condemns the Israeli strikes carried out since yesterday on the Gaza Strip, which have caused a very large number of civilian casualties," stated the Foreign Ministry in a statement.

According to Anadolu Agency, France has called for an immediate cessation of violence, highlighting the threat that ongoing hostilities pose to efforts aimed at freeing hostages and the safety of Gaza's civilian population. The ministry's statement urged all involved parties to respect the ceasefire fully and engage in constructive negotiations to establish a lasting peace.

The French government has also urged Israeli authorities to prioritize the protection of civilians, restore essential services such as water and electricity, and remove barriers to the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. Furthermore, France reiterated its call for the unconditional release of all hostages still held in Gaza.

The renewed strikes by the Israeli army on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least 404 Palestinians and injuries to hundreds more, marking a breach of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas that was in effect since January 19. Since the escalation of conflict in October 2023, over 48,500 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed, with more than 112,000 others injured.

In a significant development last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice related to its military actions in the enclave.
