Ankara: Trkiye on Saturday condemned Israel's airstrikes on Lebanon, attacks in violation of a ceasefire deal. 'We condemn Israel's airstrikes against Lebanon in violation of the ceasefire agreement,' the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye expressed its support for Lebanon by denouncing the attacks. The Turkish Foreign Ministry described the airstrikes as a sign of Israel's disregard for international law and its ongoing threat to regional security and stability. The ministry urged the international community to unite against what it described as Israel's efforts to perpetuate conflict in the region.

A ceasefire had been in place in Lebanon since November, which ended months of cross-border warfare between Israel and Hezbollah that escalated into a full-scale conflict in September. Lebanese authorities have reported more than 1,250 Israeli violations of the ceasefire, resulting in at least 100 fatalities and more than 330 injuries.

Under the ceasefire agreement, Israel was supposed to withdraw fully from southern Lebanon by January 26. However, the deadline was extended to February 18 after Israel refused to comply. Israel continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
