Cairo: The Palestinian group Hamas announced on Saturday that a leadership delegation from the group has begun meetings with Egyptian officials in Cairo to discuss its vision for ending the Gaza war and a potential prisoner exchange with Israel. According to Anadolu Agency, Hamas stated that its vision is centered on achieving a "comprehensive deal, which includes a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the reconstruction of the enclave." The movement emphasized that its delegation will also address the impact of Israel's starvation policy in Gaza and highlight the urgent need to deliver humanitarian aid, including food and medicine, to the territory. Hamas further explained that the delegation will discuss efforts to form a Community Support Committee to manage the Gaza Strip, along with conversations on some internal Palestinian developments and ways to address them. The ongoing conflict has resulted in nearly 51,500 Palestinian casualties in Gaza, predominantly women and children, amid a severe Israe li offensive since October 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in the enclave.
