Ankara: Taiwan's Defense Ministry reported Monday that it detected an increased presence of Chinese military aircraft and naval vessels around the island for a second consecutive day. The ministry observed 29 Chinese military aircraft, along with 10 naval vessels and four official ships, navigating the area between 6 a.m. local time Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, as reported by the Taipei-based Central News Agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, among the 29 People's Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft, 16 crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait entering the northern, central, southwestern, and eastern parts of Taiwan's air defense identification zone. In response to this activity, Taiwan deployed its own aircraft and naval ships and set up coastal-based missile systems to monitor the movements of the PLA.

China has been conducting military drills around Taiwan more frequently in recent years, maintaining its stance that Taiwan is a breakaway province. However, Taipei continues to assert its independence from Beijing. This month alone, Taiwan has tracked Chinese military aircraft 467 times and Chinese ships 253 times.

Beijing has not yet made any comments on the recent claims by Taipei regarding these military activities.
