Ankara: Trkiye on Monday dismissed claims that Turkish ports would be accessible to Greek Cypriot ships in exchange for easing EU visa procedures for Turkish businesspeople. The allegations were addressed by Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli, who stated on X that such reports are unfounded.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye remains opposed to the Greek Cypriot Administration's portrayal of itself as the legitimate government of the entire island, disregarding the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TNRC). This stance is rooted in historical context, as in 2004, the Greek Cypriot Administration rejected a UN proposal aimed at reunifying the island. This rejection occurred shortly before the administration joined the EU, where it claimed to represent the whole island.
