Seoul: Prosecutors on Thursday indicted former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of abuse of power during his short-lived December declaration of martial law, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported. The indictment adds to an ongoing trial on insurrection charges related to Yoon's attempted martial law implementation on December 3.

According to Anadolu Agency, the latest indictment was issued without arrest. Earlier this month, South Korea's Constitutional Court removed Yoon from office, upholding his impeachment by the National Assembly. If the insurrection charges are proven in court, Yoon could face a life term in jail or even capital punishment.
