Ankara: Danish companies and investors' interest in Trkiye has grown over the years as they see more opportunities to increase trade cooperation, especially in the renewable energy and logistics sectors.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ole Toft, Royal Danish ambassador to Ankara, highlighted that trade between Trkiye and Denmark has significant potential for growth. Danish firms are particularly interested in collaborating with Turkish firms in Africa, focusing on engineering, procurement, and construction sectors.

Toft mentioned the potential for Danish and Turkish companies to work together on reconstruction efforts in Ukraine and Syria once circumstances allow. He also pointed out the potential for cooperation in Central Asia, where Turkish firms have a strong presence.

The ambassador emphasized Trkiye's strengths in the construction industry and mentioned that while Denmark no longer has large construction companies, it has significant firms active globally that are interested in building in various regions.

In addition to construction, Denmark is keen on Trkiye's renewable energy sector, driven by the Turkish government's energy policy aimed at transitioning from fossil fuels to natural gas and renewables. Danish companies, known for their expertise in the renewable sector, are interested in investing in and collaborating on projects in Trkiye.

Toft noted the involvement of Danish companies in both onshore wind and solar energy projects in Trkiye, with a growing interest in offshore wind energy development.

Transportation and logistics are other key areas for Danish-Trkiye cooperation, given Trkiye's strategic position as a transportation hub. Danish transport firms like DSV, Maersk, and DFDS have shown substantial interest in Trkiye, seeing it as a critical link between Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, and eventually China, through the Middle Corridor transport route project.

Toft also emphasized the need to strengthen relations between the EU and Trkiye amid global economic uncertainties and rising protectionism. He praised Trkiye's advancements in the defense industry, particularly in drone development, and acknowledged its role in fostering peace in regions like Syria, the Caucasus, and Africa.
