Sanaa: The Yemeni Houthi group reaffirmed its commitment Wednesday to supporting the Gaza Strip, seemingly undeterred by Israeli airstrikes that targeted the Sanaa International Airport. It warned Tel Aviv of a 'hot summer' in retaliation.

According to Anadolu Agency, Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported that four Israeli airstrikes targeted the airport's runway and a plane from flag carrier Yemenia Airways. Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, visited the site and told the Houthi-affiliated Saba news agency that this aggression would only strengthen their resolve. He emphasized their unwavering support for Gaza until Israel halts its offensive and lifts the blockade.

Al-Mashat directed a warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating that Zionists cannot be protected from Houthi missiles. He also cautioned airlines operating flights to Israel's Ben Gurion Airport about potential risks. A ballistic missile from the Houthis had previously hit the Ben Gurion Airport on May 4, leading to the suspension of flights by several international carriers.

He further declared that Yemeni missiles are capable of reaching their targets, and shelters would not guarantee safety for Israelis. The strike on the Sanaa airport was described as a sign of Israeli frustration with ongoing Houthi attacks. Al-Mashat noted that the enemy's bombing is an indication of the impact of Houthi strikes and warned Zionists to prepare for a hot summer.

Wednesday's airstrike marked Israel's 10th attack on Yemen since the commencement of its war against Gaza. Previous targets included cement factories, power stations, and seaports. Israeli media have reported increasing domestic criticism over the strikes' limited effectiveness in deterring Houthi operations.

The Houthis announced having conducted 22 military operations targeting Israel since the beginning of May, characterizing it as 'the most painful month' for Tel Aviv, according to a video published by Al-Masirah. The group has intensified its missile and drone strikes on Israel since March, when Tel Aviv resumed military actions on Gaza.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have also targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea in support of Palestinians in Gaza. The conflict has resulted in over 54,000 fatalities due to the Israeli offensive.
