Lachin: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday congratulated Azerbaijan on its independence day, saying the victory in Karabakh "is illuminating the path of a much stronger Azerbaijan." Speaking at an event commemorating Azerbaijan's 34th Independence Day in Lachin, which Azerbaijan gained as a result of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, Erdogan said the country's victory in the war made it stronger and more prosperous.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan expressed his delight at attending the meeting, stating, "As a son of a nation that knows very well how independence is achieved and how valuable it is, I wholeheartedly congratulate you on your Independence Day." He further honored the heroes of independence, acknowledging their struggles and sacrifices, and wished blessings upon the souls of the martyrs.

The Turkish president emphasized the significance of the victory in Karabakh, indicating that it marks the beginning of a new era of success, peace, and development for the region. Erdogan highlighted past collaborations with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, including the opening of international airports in Fuzuli and Zengilan, and expressed optimism about the inauguration of the Lachin International Airport.

Erdogan underscored the strong partnerships between Turkey and Azerbaijan across various sectors such as energy, transportation, defense, trade, agriculture, and education. He credited these achievements to the contributions of President Aliyev and noted that their bilateral relations set an example for the region and the world.

Following his speech, Erdogan, along with Aliyev and Sharif, attended a concert showcasing performances from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Pakistan on the banks of the Hekeri River. The Turkish president later congratulated the artists and engaged with them on stage.

Erdogan departed for Istanbul aboard the private aircraft "TUR," accompanied by his delegation, and was seen off at Fuzuli International Airport by President Aliyev.
