DevSecOps Days Istanbul Conference Highlights AI’s Role in Software Development

Istanbul: The DevSecOps Days Istanbul Conference, organized under the leadership of the IT Association, continued at Borsa Istanbul with the participation of many technology experts from different parts of the world.

According to Anadolu Agency, the event, of which Anadolu serves as the global communication partner, is organized with the theme 'AI for DevSecOps.' Ergonautic founder Andrew Clay Shafer delivered a speech titled 'DevSecOps and Beyond,' discussing artificial intelligence (AI) and tips for more efficient work. Following Shafer, Hasan Yasar from Carnegie Mellon University emphasized the importance of AI in DevSecOps during his presentation "Synergy between AI, Agile and DevSecOps."

Yasar highlighted that AI technology has been around for a long time but is now more accessible due to increased technological possibilities. He noted the significant energy consumption challenge of AI, stating, "Using AI comes at a cost. Microsoft bought an island and will build a nuclear power plant to cover this cost." Additionally, Yasar mentioned that AI is a valuable tool for writing code, which has led to Microsoft terminating many coding jobs.

Aaron Rinehart from Capital One presented on chaos engineering, sharing his perspective on the technology with attendees. Following his presentation, the first panel of the event, titled "The Future of Secure Software Development," was moderated by Arafat Salih Aydiner. The panel included Emre Uzun from Turkcell, Kaan Demircan from Microsoft, Sami Arvas from Turkish Airlines, and Mahmut Kucuk from Turk Telekom.

During the panel, Uzun discussed the cultural transformation challenges in DevSecOps and the importance of spreading this transformation within companies. He highlighted the need for software developers and security teams to understand each other and shared insights into Turkcell's DevSecOps initiatives. Demircan elaborated on Microsoft's innovations and the application of AI tools in the DevSecOps process. Arvas explained how Turkish Airlines has deepened its DevSecOps approach across various steps. Kucuk emphasized that new technologies bring new business opportunities, stressing the importance of fostering a business culture centered around AI.
