Muscat: Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian demanded an end Wednesday to Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and called for the urgent entry of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian enclave. According to Anadolu Agency, the statement followed talks in the Omani capital, addressing regional and international issues, with a focus on the Gaza crisis. The leaders emphasized the need for a complete and permanent ceasefire and the cessation of actions by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza and across Palestinian territories. Bin Tariq and Pezeshkian urged the international community to take responsibility for delivering relief aid and humanitarian supplies to civilians in Gaza. They also rejected any plans aimed at displacing or mistreating the population. The Israeli army has continued its offensive against Gaza since October 2023, resulting in over 54,000 Palestinian deaths, predominantly women and children. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Isra eli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice. On bilateral relations, the sultan and the president highlighted the role of the private sector in both countries, hoping it would boost investments and trade. They welcomed agreements on mutual investment protection, legal cooperation, and memoranda of understanding. Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to the sultan for his efforts in mediating peace between Iran and the US, aiming for a just agreement that meets the aspirations of both sides, as reported by the Omani News Agency. Pezeshkian's visit to Muscat began Tuesday and concluded late Wednesday.
