Istanbul: The exhibition Loving Istanbul by academic and photography artist Nevzat Yildirim, which focuses on the city's famous historical landmarks, is now open to the public. Held at the Trkiye Photography Foundation (TFV) Art Gallery, the show features 20 of the artist's photographs.

According to Anadolu Agency, before the event, Yildirim shared that the exhibition expresses a deep love for Istanbul, which he has developed over many years. It reflects a strong personal connection to this ancient city. Yildirim described Loving Istanbul as a visual reflection of his bond with the city, emphasizing the unique perspectives captured in his work.

Yildirim explained that the photographs, taken between 2008 and 2025, offer an artistic view of today's Istanbul, reminiscent of how renowned photographer Ara Guler captured the city in the 1950s. He expressed a desire to take the exhibition abroad to better represent Istanbul's image in the international art world.

The exhibition's curator, Ozan Bilgiseren, a faculty member at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, highlighted the project's long development process. He praised the artistic and thematic strength of Yildirim's photos, noting the careful planning and effort involved in capturing the images.

Bilgiseren also emphasized the need for future generations to continue photographing Istanbul with purpose, drawing inspiration from the exhibition. He commended the role of TFV in supporting the photography community and fostering cultural growth.

The opening event featured talks from Yildirim and Bilgiseren, and guests received a copy of Yildirim's book, Istanbul: Atlas of Culture and Literature. The exhibition, showcasing a special selection of Istanbul's landmarks from Yildirim's 17-year project, will be available for public viewing until the end of June.
