Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday declared that ongoing Israeli attacks would provoke a stronger and more decisive response from Iran. This statement was made during a phone conversation with Pakistani Premier Shehbaz Sharif.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for Pakistan's support to Iran, stating that Israel, with backing from the US and certain Western countries, continues to violate international law. He also criticized the nuclear negotiations with Washington, describing the US administration as duplicitous and unreliable. Consequently, the next round of talks, initially scheduled for Sunday, has been canceled.

Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed Islamabad's steadfast support for Iran amidst the Israeli attacks, as per a statement from his office. He condemned the assaults, which he argued infringed on Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting Tehran's right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. Sharif labeled Israel's actions as "blatant provocations and adventurism," warning of their grave threat to regional and global peace and stability. He also strongly condemned Israel's ongoing campaign against Palestinians.

Sharif urged the international community and the United Nations to take immediate and effective measures to halt Israel's aggressive and illegal actions. The recent escalation saw Israel bombing Iran's atomic facilities and targeting its top commanders and nuclear scientists on Friday, prompting retaliatory strikes from Iran.
