Sana'a: Yemen's Houthi group has issued a threat to target US ships and warships in the Red Sea if Washington decides to launch an attack on Iran in support of Israel. This announcement was made on Saturday through a televised speech by Yahya Saree, the group's military spokesperson. Saree declared that any US involvement in aggression against Iran, alongside support for Israel, would provoke a direct response from the Houthi armed forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, Saree emphasized the group's vigilance over regional movements, indicating that any hostile actions against Yemen would prompt necessary defensive measures. He warned that silence in the face of American attacks supporting Israel's interests would only aid the Israeli enemy in asserting control over the region.

The United States has yet to respond to this latest threat from the Houthis. This development follows a ceasefire agreement reached in May between the US and the Houthis, where the latter agreed to halt attacks on American vessels in return for a cessation of US airstrikes on Yemen.

The current escalation began on June 13 when Israel conducted airstrikes on multiple Iranian sites, including military and nuclear facilities. This prompted retaliatory strikes from Tehran. Israeli authorities have reported at least 25 fatalities and hundreds of injuries due to the Iranian missile attacks. Concurrently, the Iranian Health Ministry has recorded 430 deaths and over 3,500 injuries as a result of the Israeli assault.
