Batam City: At least four people were killed and five others injured in a fire that broke out on an oil tanker docked at a shipyard in Indonesia, local Antara News reported on Wednesday. The fire occurred on the Indonesian-flagged vessel Federal II, which caught fire on Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. local time (0715 GMT) while docked at a shipyard in Batam City on the Riau Islands.

According to Anadolu Agency, the deceased were identified as Gunawan, Berkat Setiawan Gulo, Hermansyah Putra, and Januarius. Their bodies have been transported to the hospital for an autopsy. The incident resulted in injuries to five individuals, four of whom sustained serious wounds and are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.

The fire broke out while maintenance and repair work was being carried out on the vessel. Due to limited access to the shipyard, only the facility's internal safety team was involved in firefighting and evacuation operations. Local police secured the area and collaborated with facility management to ensure all victims were transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
