Islamabad: At least 10 people, including two policemen, an army officer, and four militants, were killed Wednesday in separate incidents across Pakistan. A passenger bus traveling from Karachi to Quetta came under fire in Kalat city, Balochistan, as reported by the government of Balochistan on X.
According to Anadolu Agency, spokesman Shahid Rind stated that seven injured individuals were transported to a hospital following the attack. Security forces have initiated operations against the militants responsible for the assault.
In a related incident in Balochistan, Maj. Syed Rabnawaz Tariq, aged 34, lost his life during an operation targeting militants. This was confirmed by a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media and public relations branch of the Pakistan Armed Forces. The Pakistani army identified the adversaries as "terrorists belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna al Hindustan." New Delhi has yet to respond to these allegations.
Earlier in the day, two policemen and four militants were killed in separate incidents in northwestern Pakistan. Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Azamabad area of the Tank district, near South Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in the deaths of four most-wanted militants. A senior security official, speaking anonymously to Anadolu, confirmed the recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the militants.
This follows incidents earlier in the month where Pakistani forces claimed to have thwarted an infiltration attempt by killing 30 militants attempting to cross into North Waziristan from Afghanistan. Additionally, two policemen were shot dead by militants at Yadgar Chowk in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan district, as confirmed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Minister Naqvi condemned the attack by Fitna-e-Hindustan terrorists, honoring the officers who sacrificed their lives. Last month, a separate attack in the Malang area of Dera Ismail Khan resulted in the death of one militant and injuries to two others.
Islamabad continues to accuse Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants of conducting cross-border attacks from Afghanistan, a charge that Kabul firmly denies.
