Damascus: At least three people were killed and 34 others were injured when the Israeli army launched a new wave of airstrikes on the Syrian capital, Damascus, the Health Ministry said.

According to Anadolu Agency, the state news agency SANA reported that the airstrikes targeted the General Staff Complex and the Presidential Palace, also known as Qasr al-Shaab. The Israeli army confirmed the attacks, describing the strike on the Presidential Palace as a 'warning strike.' Videos circulating on social media captured moments of the Israeli attacks, showing smoke rising from the targeted areas.

In addition to the strikes in Damascus, Israeli fighter jets conducted airstrikes in the southwestern province of Daraa and Qatana city, located in the Damascus countryside, as reported by SANA. These actions followed Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz's promise of 'painful blows' on Damascus, with Katz sharing a video depicting an explosion during a Syrian news broadcast.

According to Israel's public broadcaster KAN, the Israeli army has targeted nearly 160 locations in Syria since the previous night, focusing primarily on the southern city of Suwayda. KAN reported that army chief Eyal Zamir ordered the redeployment of forces from the Gaza Strip to Syria's occupied Golan Heights, preparing for potential extended conflict in the region.

The airstrikes on Syrian territory began on Tuesday, citing claims of protecting the Druze in Syria. The Syrian army had deployed forces in Suwayda to restore security and protect civilians following clashes between armed Druze and Bedouin groups, which resulted in at least 30 fatalities. On Wednesday, the Syrian Interior Ministry announced a ceasefire agreement with Druze leaders in Suwayda.
