Tianjin: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states to strengthen mutual trust, equality, and win-win cooperation amidst growing global challenges, the Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday. Chairing the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Tianjin, Wang highlighted the importance of the group's founding 'Shanghai Spirit,' which is rooted in mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, and consultation. He emphasized these principles as essential for navigating a global landscape marked by geopolitical turbulence and economic uncertainty.

According to Anadolu Agency, Wang Yi pointed out that the world is becoming more multipolar and that economic globalization is deepening. He noted the significant growth of the global South while warning against the rising trends of hegemony, protectionism, and emerging regional conflicts. Wang stressed the need for SCO member states to form a consensus on strengthening the organization's framework with a responsible attitude towards both history and the future.

Wang highlighted the SCO's growth over the past 24 years into a key force for regional stability and development. He proposed five key principles for the SCO's future: security cooperation, inclusive development, good-neighborly relations, multilateralism, and the defense of global justice. Additionally, Wang announced that the SCO leaders' summit will be held in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, with more than 20 heads of state and leaders of international bodies expected to attend. The foreign ministers also signed several key resolutions in preparation for the upcoming summit.
